On February 1, 2010 Sony Music released the Joe Satriani "Live in Paris: I Just Wanna Rock" DVD. Unfortunately the audio that I spent weeks mixing in stereo and surround was seriously damaged after I had turned it over to Sony Music. The damaged audio sounded left heavy and muddy due to improper data importing during the DVD authoring stage.
The problem was not detected before 40,000 units were shipped worldwide.
In late February, I was given a copy of the finished DVD. On first listen, I noticed the problem and reported it to Joe and Sony Music. Everyone agreed that the best course of action was to re-issue the DVD with the original, undamaged audio tracks.
Sony is offering an exchange that requires the customer to mail back the defective disc. The CD version of "Live in Paris" was not effected.
